Where our information comes from
Specs come from the manufacturer's own published data first. We use retailer pages only for price and stock. Every product we cover has a list of source links and the date we last checked it.
If a spec isn't published, we show a dash rather than a guess.
What counts as first-hand
First-person passages ("I ride…", "what I'd buy…") come only from the rider's own notes about gear they've actually owned or used, and they're marked as coming from the rider.
We don't describe a product as "tested" or "reviewed", or say "we used it", unless that's literally true for that product. We never publish invented star ratings or scores.
How picks are chosen
Picks are matched to a type of rider: weight, level, local conditions and budget. A "Best for" label describes who a product suits. It isn't a claim that the product beats everything else.
When a previous-year model or a used kite is better value, we say so, even though those sales often earn us less or nothing.
Prices and deals
We don't show Amazon prices, because they change constantly. Amazon buttons say "Check price on Amazon" instead. Prices from other shops appear only with the date we last checked them.
A deal is listed only if the price is below what the shop normally charges, not just below the original RRP. Deals we can't re-confirm come off the list.
Affiliate links
Affiliate links are labelled, and they never decide what gets recommended. The affiliate disclosure explains how shop buttons are ordered.
Updates and corrections
Every guide shows when it was published or last updated. We re-check prices and stock on product pages every month.
